It is my vision to continue the long traditions and support of helping the Hunter Education Volunteer Instructors and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Hunter Education program.
I grew up with both immediate and extended family that took great pride in hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors, that were proud to be able to pass those traditions and heritage down to the next generations and am proud of the years that I spent in Scouting and 4-H.
I became a Hunter Education Instructor in 2009, by way of the Texas Youth Hunting Program (TYHP) where Doug has been a Huntmaster since 2003. As Hunter Education is a prerequisite for TYHP, it was a natural to also lead Hunter Education classes.
Hunter Education Skills Trail is always a part of a TYHP hunt and we reinforce safe, legal, and ethical hunting. I strongly believe in the mission of the Texas Hunter Education Instructors Association, to support and promote Hunter Education and the instructors who teach it.
Loving Outdoor activities and living on a working ranch – passing on our Hunting Heritage has been a passion of mine since 1991. Helping others to fulfill this goal is why I love working with THEIA. Supporting others across the great state of Texas working with youth and adults to foster Safe Hunting/Shooting and Outdoor activities.
My wife, son, and I live on a small farm in Guadalupe County. We all are active volunteers in our community. I have been a TPWD volunteer in some form or another for over 30 years, with the most recent being a Hunter Education Instructor since 2016, Texas Youth Hunting Program Huntmaster and Hunter Education Area Chief for a year now.
I am also a Texas 4-H Shooting Sports Coach, Level II 4-H Instructor and State Games Range Officer, NRA Rifle Instructor, CMP GSM Instructor as well as others which helps us promote the end goal of Safe Shooting Sport Enthusiasts and Hunters. Always willing to lend a hand to other instructors when the schedule allows. If you have any questions, suggestions or just want to chat about Region 1 feel free to reach out.
